I consider myself a very diverse artist.
But I think a lot of people come to my Deviant gallery and get confused. And rightly so. They see 3...4 styles of art. I have 2 webcomics that have a very simplistic style. I have sketches with more of a cartoon-y feel. Sometimes I draw with a manga influence. And then of course I have 3D models and crazy homework assignments for school. Those pieces do not exactly have the same artistic style either. I have been getting trained as a classic animator.
But is being diverse with my art...confusing?
Sometimes I think so. I'm not really sure what to do about that. I have been slowly developing what I would call 'my style'. It's been a long road and really hard work to get there. There was a lot of practice and self evaluation...sometimes it was painful and frustrating. I was never one of those unbelievably super talented artists like Sean Galloway or Skottie Young. Artists like that just seem to have always been awesome. lol
But even this 'Greg Eales' style doesn't really work with my ongoing webcomics. I like posting everything I work on to my Deviantart account. It's kind of the 'one stop shop' for my art. I don't really plan to change this for now. However, I wonder if it's a good thing or bad?
Just some random midnight thinking...
